Your B.C. Clark Christmas jingle has a special place in my husband’s and my heart. On Friday, October 13, 1989 my husband asked me to dance at the Ramstein Officer’s Club in Ramstein, Germany. I had just been in country for two weeks and was tremendously homesick for Oklahoma. While out on the dance floor, I asked him where he was from and he said, “Oklahoma.” I replied, “You lie!” ( I don’t know why I said that. Why would anyone lie about being from Oklahoma!) I was incredulous! I quickly asked to see his driver’s license to prove it to me. He didn’t have an Oklahoma license, he said. I asked his social security number; it was indeed an Oklahoma number but I needed REAL proof. I said to him, “If you are really from Oklahoma, you know the B.C. Clark song. Can you sing it to me?” While on the dance floor, my dear, sweet future husband sang the entire jingle w/o one mistake! It was love at first jingle. We have been together ever since. If I would have been thinking, I would have had the jingle sung at our wedding!!
We tell everyone who asks how we met, our B.C. Clark jingle story. We haven’t been back to Oklahoma to live since 1989, since my husband is in the Army but we have taught the jingle to both of our daughters and they know it by heart as well. When we found your website and played the jingle, my youngest daughter raised up and said, “That’s your song, mama!”
Thank you for your jingle and the sweet childhood memories it brings back as well as the young adult memories. God bless and have a wonderful Christmas.
